About Better Living Store
Better Living Store History

It was 1996 and a young guy from Springfield was opening a store in Joplin, MO.

He started by selling central vacuums, Mystic Maid cleaning cloths and bagel slicers in a small one room store next to a Panera Bread (then St. Louis Bread Company).

Fast forward 20 years and the store has grown into a 3500 square foot space, a sister store down the street and multiple websites. The products sold have evolved and will keep evolving along with the customers they have.

It is not so much about what they sell, but how they sell it.

Customer service isn't a department as it is a way of living. "As long as we are keeping the customers happy and solving their problems, we are doing a good job." says a 10 year employee. Most of the employees have 10 plus years of service at the Better Living Store.

The knowledge base and experience of these people is awesome.

They get to know their customers and they become lifelong customers and friends.

The store's name is simple yet explains a lot of what they do.

The products they sell can make your life better, but the way they make it easy to find what you need makes better living a reality.

They are excited about the future of the store and what new products and people they will meet.

Clint
Clint joined Better Living Store 11 years ago as a project manager for the installation team. Clint loves to draw in his spare time and also bike and run. He also enjoys R/C and Drone building. You could also find him at one of his favorite Italian food restaurants. He loves his breadsticks! He enjoys meeting new people and working in new homes. He loves being able to make customers dreams become a reality.
Melanie
After years of owning her own Interior Design Store, Melanie joined the Better Living Store in 2007. She loves the people she meets here and loves to please them by finding great products to complete their projects. She loves to help the customer with every aspect of the home. She is an expert in furniture, lighting and window treatments. You will find her grilling most evenings on her Green Egg. And she loves to visit her daughter and family whenever she can.
Mindy
Mindy has been our Office Manager and all around wealth of knowledge going on 15 years! You will hear her friendly voice when you call in or have any account questions. She enjoys getting to work with great people. In her spare time she enjoys watching movies and reading.
Nancy
Nancy started at Better Living in 2016. She loves the daily projects that come with working at the store, especially rearranging the store and working on displays. She has three children, all grown, but keeps busy coordinating many of her home towns' functions and events. She also loves flea market shopping, crafting and cooking.
Lori
Lori joined Better Living as an Interior Designer/On-site Consultant about 14 years ago. She is great at what she does and you can tell because your home will look great and she will keep you in budget. She really enjoys seeing the new trends and incorporating them into the design. She likes the new trends, but is also passionate about historic preservation. She has renovated four historic properties and is currently renovating two more.
Sarah
Sarah joined Better Living as an Interior Designer/On-site Consultant in 2007. She now manages the store, and helps with the purchasing and displays. She wants the store to be a unique place to find what you love to make your space look great! She is a sucker for a Rogers and Hammerstein, and also enjoys doodling and playing the ukulele. She and her husband like to travel and see the National Parks.
Dave
Dave started at Better Living in 2013 as our Installer at the store. You might find him up on a ladder hanging a display or trouble -shooting a fan for a customer. He makes our displays look great. And he always does it with a smile. He enjoys time with his family and barbecuing.
Chris
Chris started at Better Living in 2013. She makes sure all our invoices get paid so we can keep selling awesome stuff. She also helps with some other accounting and office work. She loves animals especially the kitties and she loves to cook and try new recipes. She is what you would call a "foodie".
