It was 1996 and a young guy from Springfield was opening a store in Joplin, MO.
He started by selling central vacuums, Mystic Maid cleaning cloths and bagel slicers in a small one room store next to a Panera Bread (then St. Louis Bread Company).
Fast forward 20 years and the store has grown into a 3500 square foot space, a sister store down the street and multiple websites. The products sold have evolved and will keep evolving along with the customers they have.
It is not so much about what they sell, but how they sell it.
Customer service isn't a department as it is a way of living. "As long as we are keeping the customers happy and solving their problems, we are doing a good job." says a 10 year employee. Most of the employees have 10 plus years of service at the Better Living Store.
The knowledge base and experience of these people is awesome.
They get to know their customers and they become lifelong customers and friends.
The store's name is simple yet explains a lot of what they do.
The products they sell can make your life better, but the way they make it easy to find what you need makes better living a reality.
They are excited about the future of the store and what new products and people they will meet.
